What you need to do is this. Click apply and let Lightroom create the mask. Now select the 'Focus' brush, set it to a very big size and to Amount 100 and Flow 100 and brush in the entire photo. Then select the 'Blur' brush, make it as small as the face and click on each face.

Close the Lightroom Classic instance in task manager and then hold down the ALT and SHIFT keys and click on the LrC shortcut. When prompted, click Yes to reset Preferences. EDIT: I forgot to add that the Reset Preferences prompt is a small dialogue box, which may be hidden behind other windows.

Windows 11. Lightroom became incredibly slow and would lag or become unresponsive for 5-10 seconds at a time in Library and just general browsing. GPU settings were disabled, set to custom and auto and nothing would work. Uninstalled and re-installed ALL Adobe products and updated every driver I could find.
